Last week Room 7 went to the changing room to get ready for our first swimming lesson. When we finished getting changed we went in one straight line down to the swimming pool. Our teacher told us that swimming is very important because New Zealand might drown because of global warming and we need to know how to swim.
When we got to the swimming pool the teacher opened up the gate to the pool we all went inside the changing rooms to put our bags away. Everybody went to the ladder and went inside the cold swimming pool. We walked around the swimming pool to get warmer. we started to dive in the water to get wetter.
Our instructor for the day was our teacher. We went to one of the swimming pools. We practiced paddling, breathing and our head and body movements. The hardest thing out of all of them was our breathing. the teacher said while you are swimming hold your breath in the water for three seconds and then put your head up out of the water and breathe.
After learning all those instructions I was able to swim the whole swimming pool without standing up. if New Zealand drowns Glenbrae School will know how to swim away.
